Some studies show that cats fed with dry foods may have alkaline urine! Urine alkalinity has been though to cause the production of struvite crystals in cats urinary systems, and many dry food makers have tried to solve this problem by making the dry food urine acidifying. This idea may cause bladder stones and water consumption is therefore critical and appears to be the most crucial factor for the prevention of stones in cats when feeding dry foods.
